Celebrating a Freedom That Sounds Like Silence
We recount stories of freedom so that each generation lives liberation firsthand. But for the woman who has spent decades being the “strong one”…the bridge for her community and the sounding board for everyone else, freedom doesn’t sound like a loud victory.
This year, my freedom sounds like silence…the creation-space behind sound, the harmony of unity, and the ability to be from the inside out.
When the ground shifts and life feels rock-hard, my lineage offers a different instruction:
Do not just survive it. Make music with the rocks
The Sonic Way Keeper
In the late 80s, with the Gulf War brewing, I threw out my television. I didn’t need the broadcast of fear; I needed the instruction of the inner well
That choice led me to broadcast the opening ceremonies of the Albertville Winter Olympics on CBS Primetime television, where the peaceful source of my voice served as an embodied bridge for the 60 million viewing audience.
Following that broadcast, my “marching orders” took me to the inner-city trains of France.
For one year, six days a week, I sang on those trains…not as a performer, and never as a “busker.”
I never once asked for money. It was the foundational training for this therapeutic singing way. Every day was a litany of doubt, a worry for my own sanity as I chose to release the racing noise of the “crazy” inner critic in favor of the healing voice that wanted to emerge from the source of harmony in the silence behind the sound.
I had turned down a cushy corporate job to show up on those trains, yet I received more financial flow for simply standing in that unadorned truth than the corporate world would have ever provided.
Whether on a primetime stage or holding center amidst the chaos of a war zone, I have found that this source in the silence acts as a sonic way-keeper.
It is an ancient technology that soothes the racing mind and returns us to the hydraulic power of the earth’s core.
The Pattern of the Well
My lineage is Levite on both my mother’s and father’s sides. I am a direct descendant of the prophetess Miriam. She prophesied the birth of Moses and held the power of the Cosmos in her hands.
Her voice and rhythm could part the seas. She knew that wise women follow resonance, not instructions.
Today, modern science proves the ‘miracle’ of how sound shapes matter. As I shared in my TEDx talk, ‘Trust Your Silent Voice,’ we can now capture the exact vibration required to part water particles and raise stones.
Miriam’s voice was the bridge from inner truth to outer expression. This is the frequency of the Cosmic Melody—a sound that replenishes the dry well and sustains the leader when systems crack.

The Lineage of Stone and Well
In ancient times, wise ones scheduled temple retreats when uncertainty shook hardest, not after the calm returned.
They would retreat to high places, among the ancient oaks and megalithic stones.
High places held sonic frequency to bypass racing minds, helping them drop into belly clarity, and action without second-guessing.
This is part of the experience known as Vagar…the lineage-based permission to “do” nothing…to just wander, and be replenished.
This slow ancient approach to life and use of sound were forgotten, but it is the same technology Miriam used to part the seas and the frequency that vibrates within the ancient megaliths.
I have devoted my entire life and career to the resurgence of this ancient feminine leadership way.
One can experience the Vagar way of life today, in the Alentejo region of Portugal. It has been chosen as the focus for the 2027 European City of Culture project.
Throughout the thirty years of my career, whether leading a research project, group retreat, private immersion, or presenting on a live or virtual stage, offering the feminine experience of Vagar has been the essential through line of it all.
Feminine Leadership is Audacious – The Medical Benchmark
True leadership is the courage to follow an inner voice that makes no logical sense.
It took a steel quality of courage to walk into a medical research hospital and dare them to prove an ancient technology by proposing a research project in a neonatal intensive care unit on babies weighing less than 500 grams.
This work has been tested when the world is shaking, in a hospital serving a 50/50% Israeli-Palestinian population that most would consider impossible, and we pulled it off.
True authority is proven in the storm. Deep calm is gathered in the eye of it.
