Byron Katie came to Israel in July 2007. More than 1800 Jews, Christians and Muslims gathered to ask themselves four simple questions as a means to relieve their suffering and contribute to living peace.

Eliana Gilad, founder of Voices of Eden, who also organizes living peace tours in the Holy land, interviewed Tsila Hartman who along with her Arab colleague, Rarda Masalcha, who took it upon themselves to mobilize the Arab community to meet with Katie during her visit.

During the hour long teleconference, Gilad and Hartman, along with participants from all around the globe joined to explore how we can go beyond our inner barriers and beyond to connect with our inner peace.    Click to listen here.

Tsila Hartman shared the process of organizing this event along with Arik Peled, who along with his wife Vered, brought Byron Katie to Israel for the landmark event, which you can watch here.

The response to the teleconference was so inspiring that a follow up web conference will be planned to allow for the good to grow. Byron Katie will participate in the next conference. Listen how one woman was moved to tears to participate in a constructive activity generated from the Middle East.

Eliana Gilad returns to the United Nations on April 27

The Miracle of Healing through Sound Presented at the United Nations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The United Nations Staff Recreation Council and S.E.A.T. (Society for Enlightenment and Transformation) are pleased to sponsor an evening program called "The Rhythm of Ancient Voices – Practical Healing for Today" on April 27, 2007 at 6:00pm at the United Nations, 46th St. /First Ave. (GA Building), New York City, NY.

Three experts in the field of sound healing will present the conscious use of voice, rhythm and music as a natural healer and how we can use it today for our healing and well-being. This will be a symposium, live experiment and healing music experience. Research results from the healing music project in Northern Israel conducted upon Jewish, Christian, and Muslim physically handicapped youth will be shown. The Herson-Stirman Foundation contributed money for the Voices of Eden research and for healing music programs this year to address post trauma in Northern Israel. This presentation will demonstrate some of the information revealed by the research.

Eliana Gilad is the founder of Voices of Eden an ancient healing and transformational music modality. This model is built upon research results conducted upon the music and taught to other practitioners, professionals and lay people. Eliana makes peace tours to the US, Europe and Cyprus two to three times a year. Her presentations are a unique and uplifting experience of deep relaxation through the instrument of her profound and penetratingly peaceful and healing voice.

As part of the presentation Konstantin Pavlidis will present his work with the GDV device, which is a new generation of the well-known Kirlian photography. This modern scientific tool gives scientists and healing practitioners the opportunity to visualize the distribution of human energy fields. Over the past twenty years much research has been done regarding the accuracy and fine tuning of the aura glow analysis and recording. Professor Konstantin Korotkov, the world leader in bioelectrography research at St Petersburg University in Russia, and his team have studied the auras of thousands of subjects, and from the results of his findings and research developed the Gas Discharge Visualization (GDV) machine.

In addition, Amrita Cottrell, Founding Director of The Healing Music Organization and Foundation in Santa Cruz, California will share her miraculous story of healing from breast cancer eight years ago with the use of devotional and shamanic sound. Her non-profit organization includes a leading educational website that research studies, news articles, and many other resources on the use of sound and music in health and well being. She is also the author of The Encyclopedia of Sound and the Dictionary of Sound, which will be published later this year.

All United Nations staff, representatives of Accredited NGOs, Mission Members to the United Nations and the general public are invited to this event. However, anyone attending this event must pre-register by April 10th for security reasons. This can be done by simply sending an email to amrita@healingmusic.org with "UN Attendance" in the subject line.

As a frequent keynote presenter at peace conferences, including the UNESCO International Conference in Nazareth, Israel, leader of a silent peace walk based on Gandhi’s principles with 100 Jews, Christians, and Muslims, between Jewish and Arab villages, co-founder of Sacred Peace Tours, bringing people to contribute to the peace process in the Holy Land, and participant in another walk supporting Arun Gandhi's visit to the separation wall at Abu Dis, Gilad will share her wisdom that wordless music provides a peaceful bridge between the Arab and Jewish populations, as it bypasses spoken language and speaks to the heart.

During the 90-minute breakout session, peace leaders will play with the principles of:
*Staying peaceful in conflict: Silence & Focus
*Strengthening the life force: The Heart Beat
*Compassion amidst chaos: A Single Long Note

"Each participant will receive the gift of a sacred keep stone from the ancient olive groves of Galilee, as a token of peace. Many of these trees are more than 2000 years old.", says Gilad.  "All spiritual traditions are roads that lead us to reclaim our connection with Spirit, Silent Knowledge, and Source of All. This is our essence. In addition to my presentation I will also be meeting with community leaders interested in personally coming to the Holy Land to meet with living masters of peace there and to make a very real contribution to the peace process in a once in a life changing experience".

The M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence and the Association for Global New Thought invites your participation in the 10th Anniversary year of the Gandhi King Season for Nonviolence.  The Peace Train and Living Legends of Nonviolence Conference celebrates a Decade of Peace on Track exemplified by the leadership of thousands of local peace leaders during this internationally celebrated Season.

The Gandhi King Season for Nonviolence is a grassroots campaign growing out of the passion and creative expression of many spiritual and civic-minded individuals and communities. The vision is to promote a proactive, life enhancing awareness of nonviolent activism as demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. A Season for Nonviolence will be launched once again at the United Nations and many other cities on January 30th 2007, and continue through April 4th, 2007 and beyond!

Quiet in the Eye of the Storm 2 CD Audio Book Released

"Quiet in the Eye of the Storm: Living Peace in a War Zone", the uplifting and inspirational book written during the recent Israel-Lebanon war has just been released as a 2 CD -audio book.

The idea to turn the downloadable book, available at
www.peace-in-war.com into an audio version came to author Eliana Gilad as she was fleeing from a bomb that blasted in front of eyes in the middle of her Galilee village home.

"On the highway from Galilee to Tel Aviv, I wondered what good could come of my having to flee my village. The answer came quickly. 'Record the book, so people can hear it. Sometimes it's more convenient for people to listen than read. It saves time", she said. Gilad thought, "I'll contact recording studios to see whether they would be willing to do a trade".

The owner of Zinko studios in Tel Aviv was happy to contribute to the project. Gilad, who as former employee of CBS television, narrated voice-overs for CBS television during the 1992 Olympic Games from to the 60 million US television viewers narrates for television and films destined for English speaking countries and frequently records at this world class post production facility.

"It was a great experience to turn the worst of the war into an inspiring experience", says Gilad. "People comment on the inspiring quality of my narration. They do not recognize my voice.
Perhaps, because the circumstances were so drastic, and my intent so clear, that it brought out an added dimension to my voice.

In celebration of it's debut, the audio book is available for a special introductory price of $18.55 instead of $25. It is available through http://www.peace-in-war.com

Biblical Instruments on Jerusalem Day TV Special May 24

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Galilee, Israel Apr 29, 2006 - Healing music expert Eliana Gilad will be performing at The Sultan's Pool in Jerusalem as part of a unique orchestra comprised of 15 musicians who specialize in musical instruments used in biblical times. The program will be broadcast on Channel Two "Keshet", Wednesday, May 24 at 8:45 p.m.

The concept for the television special is: Jerusalem of ancient times. Gilad was invited to participate in the production for her expertise in the ancient use of voice and rhythm as a natural healer; such was used in ancient times.

The special, "Jerusalem of the Heart" tells the story of Jerusalem and will include the President, Prime Minister, Mayor of Jerusalem, along with the best of Israel's performing artists. Gilad will perform with frame drums, described in the Old Testament as Miriam's Drum, and finger cymbals, described in the bible as "mitziltayim". Mitziltayim ranging from 3 – 10 cm, have been excavated in archeological digs throughout the North. These instruments were used in Ancient Egypt as well.

Ancient Use of Music Releases Stress

"Jerusalem Day celebrates the reunification of the city. For me, the deeper meaning of this holiday is reunification with our inner selves", says Gilad. "In biblical times, frame drums and cymbals were used in spiritual preparation for reaching the Temple Mount. Incorporating the ancient percussion into this television special will enable viewers to reconnect with their roots and to their inner sense of tranquility. I am pleased that a prime-time audience will become exposed to the natural rhythms of the ancients", adds Gilad.

Question... the photo of the water crystal that appears on the home page of this site, also seems to appear in the film "What the Bleep". In the scene where Amanda (Marlee Matlin). enters the train station, upon the wall of the station, a water crystal is faintly projected on the wall. I received this beautiful thank you letter following our music of peace concert at the United Nations in NYC:

Dear Eliana,

Allow me to thank you for your inspiring and beautiful presentation in the
UN Dag Hammarskjold Library Auditorium. The audience was visibly moved and enjoyed the many original compositions by you and members of the
POSITIVE MUSIC GROUP and, towards the end, the interactive pieces with you and Richard Shulman. This was one of the most moving events that we have witnessed in a long time. Your mission is most inspiring and important, truly a way to help us tap inside ourselves for the "Light" to share with the United Nations and this area.

On behalf of the officers and members of the SEAT Executive Committee and its members, thank you so much for organizing this event with Richard and bringing your POSITIVE MUSIC GROUP to United Nations Headquarters. We hope to see you back in the New York City area in the very near future.

Again, thank you and every member of VOICES OF EDEN for helping so many people all over the world!

Sincerely yours,

Lina JACINTO-ARELLANO

Live music benefits prem babies

Tuesday, September 07, 2004

Live music, such as mothers singing lullabies, can help calm premature babies in hospital neonatal units, says an Israeli study.

The researchers compared the effects of 30 minutes of live and recorded versions of a female singer and harp music on 15 premature babies, BBC News Online reported.

Babies calmer after hearing music
After hearing the live music, the babies slept much more deeply and had a reduced heart rate than after they heard the recorded music.

"It could be that the live music is different to recorded music in its timbre, its echo, and other variables that could influence the baby," lead researcher Dr Shmuel Arnon told BBC News Online.

He suggested that mothers be encouraged to sing lullabies to infants in neonatal units, which are often filled with the sound of medical machines monitoring the babies.

The study was presented at a British Psychological Society conference. - (HealthDay News)

Eliana Gilad brings Healing Music, Good News and Peace from the Middle East to the US.
Inspired by an invitation to perform in a Music of Peace concert at the United Nations on October 22, 1:15 – 2:45 p.m., Eliana Gilad, founder of Voices of Eden has planned a peace tour of the United States to share good news, not commonly known in the US, healing music and inspiring examples of peace in the Middle East.
Voices of Eden is the conscious use of voice and rhythm as a natural healer, such was used in ancient times. The music has been medically researched in Israel in a neonatal hospital ward with a 50/50% Jewish /Arab population, and found to lower blood pressure, heart rate and increase quality of sleep. Joining Gilad on the tour is harpist Sunita Staneslow who performs with Gilad in the healing music program at the hospital.
Gilad will be on the East Coast of the United States from October 14 and plans to perform, teach and present to a variety of informal and formal gatherings, professional and interfaith groups. "I will go to wherever there is an interested group of people willing to receive good news from the Middle East", says Gilad.
The tour is intended as a living example of faith at work, and will be funded through kind donations and tithing from individuals and organizations who support positive initiatives that create living, lasting and expanding peace. A mixed media Powerpoint presentation will inform audiences about the medical research performed at the Meir Hospital Healing Program, plus the other programs and plans for the Galillee center. "The healing music performance will enable audiences to experience our work first hand and learn of positive programs and activities–Jewish and Arab that are going on in the Middle East today", says Gilad.
"We are coming to present our music and results of the healing music research so that people can experience a positive side of the Middle East that rarely gets portrayed in the media." The music combines ancient spirituals in Hebrew and English as well as the pioneering healing music that combines voice with exotic eastern frame drums.

Gilad moved to Israel from France ten years ago, where she had worked for CBS during the 1992 Olympics doing voice overs for the ceremonies. It was during the Olympics that Gilad felt called to use her voice for a higher good. Two years later, an inner directive guided her to move to the Galillee to found a self realization and healing music center, in a green place where one sees blue. The calling detailed music of east and west, including computers and to be directed overseas. "At the time, I had no idea what that meant", said Gilad. "But I am a woman of faith and I followed through on the inner marching orders."

Ten years later, there are five Voices of Eden music discs and a workbook that are sold through the internet. This spring, I moved to the Galilee and founded the Voices of Eden Self Realization and Healing Music Center in a vegetarian health village," Gilad says. Her pioneering music that combines Eastern percussion to ground the body and Western melody to release tension is represented overseas at international conventions and concerts where she is invited to perform.

In September, the results of the healing music research at Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba Israel will be presented in England at a British Psychological International Conference at the University of Leeds.

On October 22nd, Gilad will be participating in the Concert of Peace to be presented by the The Positive Music Group at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The Positive Music Group is comprised of musicians throughout the world whose focus is on healing and positive communication through music. Composer/pianist Richard Shulman, member of The Positive Music Group who is organizing the United Nations peace concert, says, "We are bringing some of our finest artists together for this concert at the United Nations as a statement of and for world peace."
